It’s a web 2.0 tool that allows teachers and students to create online posters, a.k.a., Glogs. Glogs can have audio, video, animations, still images, text, graphics, etc. Whatever you can do with paper, you can do better with a Glog!
How can Glogs Enhance Instruction/Learning?
Teachers can use Glogs as class websites, web quests, as a place to showcase student work, instructions for an assignment, to list websites for a research project, etc. Students can use Glogs for biographies, reviews, highlighting a topic or subject, event, idea, concept, experiment, problem, person, cause/effect, etc. It gives students and teachers the ability to use 21st Century skills in the classroom.
Where to Get Started:
Go to www.edu.glogster.com and register for a free account. Make sure you include the EDU it's been created specifically for educational purposes. Follow the instructions to create your profile. Add up to 50 students for free. When you add students, you will receive and email with your students usernames and passwords. Students must go to the “first log in link” to log in for the first time. HINT – You can either go to the first log in link for your students before they ever log in to speed up the log in process during class, or I've also printed out students user information and cut it up into little slips to distribute during class. If you do cut out the slips for the students, know that they sometime type the URL in wrong and they migh not be able to log in.
Create a Glog:
Simply click on create a new glog and Glog away!
